Dr. Loren Cordain wrote "The Paleo Diet" book. Dr. Cordain states that grains were not a part of the prehistoric human diet. Industrial revolution has greatly changed our diet with the introduction of processed and artificial foods. He also claims that these changes are responsible for diseases, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

The Paleo diet is based on eating foods that would be available in the absence of all technology. Many foods are not allowed, such as all processed foods, sugar, salt, grains, dairy products, coffee, and alcohol, because they were not available to our prehistoric ancestors. Potatoes are also not allowed, because today potatoes are much higher in carbohydrates as compared to those in Stone Age period.
