Anne Louise Gittleman created the Fast Track Detox Diet. The book subtitle states that the dieters can safely lose up to 8 pounds overnight, can boost metabolism and get rid of fattening toxins.
The Basics of the Fast Track Detox Diet
Gittleman states that to fast correctly, it is important to prepare the body properly; otherwise the fast can overload the detox pathways of the body.
For this reason the plan contains a preparation of seven days based on organic foods, because of their ability to improve the function of the organs of detoxification: the liver, digestive tract and kidneys. It is followed by fasting one day on Gittleman's "miracle juice", which is a combination of; orange juice, lemon juice, nutmeg, ginger, cranberry juice, and stevia. After the fast, there are then three more days where dieters adhere to the plan of the initial seven days.
Refined carbohydrates, most fats, sugar, soy protein isolates, artificial sweeteners, alcohol, and caffeine are never allowed during the plan.
Recommended Foods
For the first seven days and the last three days of the plan, dieters should take:
- At least one colon-loving food or supplement, which contains; ground flaxseed, psyllium husks, pear or berries.
- One to two tablespoons of olive oil or flaxseed.
- One to three liver-loving foods or supplement, which contains; onions, eggs, artichoke, asparagus, beets, celery, cabbage, broccoli, leafy green vegetables, and oranges.
Exercise Recommendations
On the fasting day, a very gentle exercise of not more than 30 minutes is recommended. On other days dieters can do exercise according to their current health and fitness level.
