The Cambridge Diet is based in the United Kingdom, and it originated from the Cambridge University in the late 1970's. It was officially launched in 1984.
The Diet Plan
The Cambridge Diet consists of pre-packaged food and is very low in calories. The food has been formulated to provide precise amounts of nutrients, vitamins and calories.
The plan starts with 415-500 calories per day. After a period of 4 weeks, the calorie levels are increased, first to 790, then 1000 calories per day. A good amount of water intake is recommended during the diet, in order to avoid dehydration.
A Risky Endeavor
The Cambridge Diet should be used only under the guidance of a medical practitioner. In the UK, it is only available through accredited counselors, and to people with a BMI above 25.
A very low intensity exercise plan can be followed during the diet, and additional fiber may be required to prevent constipation.
Be very careful with the Cambridge Diet.
