Apple Cider Vinegar is a tonic produced by fermenting apples. Yeast and sugar are added to apple juice and it is termed the “fermentation process”. Another process involves the addition of bacteria to the apple juice, which will result in the formation of acetic acid.
Apple Cider Vinegar has been used as a health tonic for many years. The Tonic claims that it will cure diabetes, arthritis, migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, high blood pressure, and many other ailments.
Many health food manufacturers tout this vinegar as a “miracle” healer. But the truth is a very small amount of proof is available for any of these claims.
Apple Cider for Weight Loss
In the 1950s Dr. D. C. Jarvis wrote a book called Folk Medicine and it sets a platform for Apple Cider Vinegar as a weight loss agent. He claimed that a regular intake of tonic would result in the burning of fat. Other claims state the pectin in the vinegar will bind cholesterol and remove it from the body. |
