Acne (pimples) has some connection with nutrition. There are some guidelines that may be useful such as;
Foods to Avoid
Foods containing saturated fats and trans fats can lead to oily skin. Saturated fats are present in almost every animal product such as poultry, meat and dairy. Other important fatty acids are required by the body and can be found in fish, flaxseed and hempseed.
Some people believe that eating too much or eating a high calorie diet will result in increased hormone levels and will lead to more break outs, but it has not been proven.
Most people believe that eating chocolate will increase acne, but it has not been proven. Chocolate contains high a proportion of saturated fat.
Foods to Try
A high protein diet may be helpful in controlling acne. It can be related to a decrease in production of a certain enzyme that causes more oil production and increased clogging of pores.
Acne Treatments & Vitamins
Some people have found that zinc and vitamins can be helpful in dealing with acne. Green tea can also be useful because it decreases androgen production.
A high amount of iodine in the diet does impact some acne sufferers - by causing new outbreaks of acne lesions. Note that very salty foods such as chips, etc. must be avoided.
